The great thing about the artist is just the art it make but is the fact that it's worth huge amounts of money and nobody knows who he or she or group they are. Banksy is an artist totally unlike any other artist for starters banksy is a street graffiti artist with the best canvas, because his canvas it the world walls building ramps anything he has just about no limit.

Chapter 4 - Tate Modern

The first installation we looked at was a piece called 'Annlee You Proposes'. This piece was made by an artist called Liam Gillick, and his theme was 'No ghost just a shell'. is is on Level 5 of the Tate Modern, in the 'no ghost just a shell' room.

The entire room was 'Annlle You Proposes' , his piece wasn't just in the room is was the room, the whole room was the art the videos the chairs the perplexing style objects in the room were all part of the piece.

The objects are diff erent and brightly coloured hollow cubes made of 4 sides, scattered ove r the room use for many different purposes. They were chairs a see through wall, or a shelf unit or open wardrobe, the chairs were set in front of three flat screen televisions fixed in a line with equal spacing, in which showed a video of a strange anime type of cartoon girl talking in a sinister way with flashing images. The video was really quite strange which put you a bit on edge while watching but once you look around the room mixed with all the nice bright colours it made you feel a bit better and less uneasy.

The room was well light with wall lighting in key points to maximise, but no over do the brightness of the room, this helped to ease up after watching the video. We couldn't work out what the piece meant, however we did come to the conclusion that videos which are meant to put you on edge are suppose to be shown in dark cold rooms to add effect. Due to the fact that this wasn't in a
dark cold room shows that the room doesn't matter that much, or shows that way that a bright and nicely decorated room can cheer you up after watching a strange and creep video just by being in a brightly coloured safe looking environment.

The second piece of 'art' we decided to analyse is called 'Blood and Feathers' by artist Ana Mendieta also
being shown on level 5 of the Tate Modern. It is another strange piece but just a video this t
im
e not the whole room, and this time we found out the theme, which was apparently energy and process. The room was quite dark but with comfortable seating, and was quite warm. The darkness and the comfort made people think they should be quite will watching even though it was a silent film, it was similar to being in a small cinema. The seating in the room were placed relatively close to a projector screen in which a video was been shown of a middle aged women standing naked by a la
ke covering herself in blood goes to the floor, then shortly after rolls around and then covers herself totally in feathers which were sticking to the blood and covering her in bloody white feathers. We struggled to find a meaning but after a while decided that the meaning for Blood and Feathers was to show the beauty that anyone can find from themselves. we got to this conclusion from the end part of the film when she rises from the ground covered in feathers, and emerging like a beautiful swan, to show the beauty and freedom.

My experimental Video- The release of life (chapter 5)

My video production is called "The release of life".

The video primarily goes through they way one person shows how they let the world's problems out of their body by putting their own body through as much physical strain as possible. By way of extreme pleasure with exercise, adrenaline rushes, and social conflict. All this is gained because of a mans joy for the skateboard. The video shows the modern views about life performed in an extreme sport way using the feeling of carefree and stress less details of being a skater, which could be a stereo typical view however to most people skating is a hobby and hobbies we invented or discovered as a way to relax.

Gisele Kerozene (1989) has inspired me to make my video stop frame, because the experiment film is making me want to push the boundaries, to make the video as interesting as possible, so the viewer has a lot to think about. This means i am able to makes images and scene that i would of never thought to use which should hopefully improve the video and allow it to flow through a lot better and smoother.

Koyaanisqatsi

Koyannisqatsi 1982 - Balance of Life

At first the video's audio has a trance like culty type of vibe to it. but when you mix it with what you are seeing in the first two minutes of play it feels you with despair and a burning hatred for what we feel responsible for the slow destruction of the world because we are tampering with it's natural beauty too much.
once the music changes to a calming melody the video change to the untouched natural world with nothing but the earth and it's design. then rapidly changes again into an aggressive scary tone where the video show the human involvement into tearing down the naturally shapes of the earth to manipulate them into mountains of metal architecture. also how the human race is using the only earthed shapes natural space left to test weapons which are built to destroy life of earth and man.
Overall i believe the concept of the whole piece is about how the human race is trying to evolve to fast in a way because we are slowly destroying the earth because we want things faster and easier in life. due to this we are having to use more of the earths natural fuels like oil and wood to make things in life easier like a gas fire Central heating etc. i think watching this piece in the right frame of mind can be powerful enough to influence they why people live, because it gets you to think about whether we actually need to use the earths resources or if we could do without.

Andy Huang - Doll Face

Doll Face is an experimental peice of media made through computer animation by a famous american hacker and artist Andrew 'bunnie' Huang.

His piece named Doll Face has been made with a lot of computerised skill, and taken quite a time to get it flowing well. The doll face is trying to reach an untainable image of perfection as the mechanical beast like box watches the television through the eyes of the media.

To be continued.......

Art?

Art means whatever it needs to mean from your own perpective, because art only represents what you see it as.
